To establish Music Awards Japan (MAJ) as the premier, cross-border music award in Asia, the initiative addressed an industry challenge: traditional Japanese music awards heavily favor local talent, severely limiting regional credibility and broader audience engagement. To bridge this gap, the client commissioned the localized distribution of three core press releases across primary target markets (Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand) while extending secondary outreach to Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The overarching goal was to build momentum for the MAJ 2026 platform by securing high-profile media coverage and driving widespread visibility throughout the region. To maximize local relevance, the strategy centered on customizing press angles around prominent regional artists, transforming a standard announcement into a compelling local narrative.
The campaign was executed through a strategic, 3 phased rollout that successfully distributed all required press releases across both primary and secondary markets. By leveraging heightened public interest during the second phase, the strategy activated a momentum loop where targeted pitches rapidly evolved into viral organic pickup. The campaign achieved extraordinary measurable success, generating 237 total outreach clippings and reaching an impressive audience of 887.71 million across Asia.
Phase 2 alone accounted for 119 earned media placements, predominantly across Tier 1 outlets, complemented by 110 unprompted organic coverage pieces published without direct outreach. This dramatic shift from direct pitching to spontaneous regional coverage demonstrated that the campaign far exceeded its initial KPI targets.
Ultimately, the campaign cemented MAJ’s cross-border authority by locking in placements across top-tier Asian publications, including The Philippine Star and Billboard Philippines in the Philippines, Kompas and Detik in Indonesia, and TH Headline and HITZ in Thailand.
